Jim Jarvie is with Mercy Corps’ Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN), developing a regional, practitioner-based, membership platform. The ACCCRN network supports Urban Climate Change Resilience practitioners to influence agendas, create knowledge that drives change, and access resources building inclusive and equitable urban resilience across Asia.
Dr. Jarvie previously led development of Mercy Corps’ global programs in climate change and environment, focusing on SE Asia. Joining the agency in the aftermath of the 2004 Asian tsunami in Sri Lanka, he has also managed emergency response and recovery programming, integrating disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability during transition from humanitarian to development programming.
He is a biologist with 20 years of experience in Southeast Asia, previously working on natural resource management, conservation and conflict; ethical timber trading; and protected area design.
