Shigemoto Kajihara is currently the Vice Minister, Ministry of the Environment, Japan. He was formerly a Deputy Director-General of Global Environment Bureau and in charge of UNFCCC climate change negotiation. He joined the Environmental Agency in 1979 and since 2001, the Ministry of the Environment. He has served in various positions regarding the environmental issues, including planning and coordination on global environment policy, policy making and coordination/evaluation and public relations, environmental impact assessment etc. From 1998 to 2001, he worked at Environmental Coordination Unit of the UN-ESCAP in Bangkok. Mr. Kajihara graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Engineering.
