Mr. Arif Dermawan is the focal point of the ASEAN ESC Model Cities Programme for Malang City, Indonesia.
He graduated from Universitas Merdeka Malang, and obtained a Master’s degree in Infrastructure Asset Management from Institut Tekhnologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya.
He started his career as a civil engineer in 1993, constructing bridges and buildings. He then started his work as a government officer in the Water Resource Department at the Ministry of Public Works in Jakarta in 1995.
He also worked as a civil engineer in Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Board (BPLS-Badan Penanggulangan Lumpur Sidoarjo) from March 2006 to December 2008.
Now he works for Malang City Environmental Board. He is focusing on preparing Malang City to be a part of ASEAN Low Carbon City and he is actively preparing the city to participate in the Cities Clean Air Partnership (CCAP).
