Duangchai Paungkaew (Pla) is Programme Assistant for ASEAN ESC Model Cities Programme at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). She manages overall coordination, logistics and project implementation to ensure smooth delivery of the programme.
She graduated in Fisheries Science (B.Sc.) from King Mongkutt Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and Law (B.L) from Thammasat University.
Prior to IGES, she has 9 years experience in research and development from an American seafood company and one year in Aquatic Resource Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University.
Most recently, she worked with the non-profit organization “World Wild Fund for Nature” (WWF Thailand). She was a member of Market Transformation Initiative project which aims to transform a seafood supply chain to be more responsible and sustainable, in terms of natural resources consumption and ethical labour operations. She was assigned to be consultant of the 1st ASC (Eco-Label) shrimp farm in Thailand. She helped WWF-Thailand to develop The Ethical Labour Guideline for the Business Sector.
For cities development experiences, she has 20 years volunteer experience working with local communities on livelihood, drug abuse, human rights and environmental issues.
