Arif Dermawan is the focal point of ASEAN ESC Model Cities Program for Malang City. He graduated from Universitas Merdeka Malang, and obtained a Master Degree on Infrastructure Asset Managament from Institut Tekhnologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya. He started his career as a civil engineer in 1993, constructing bridges and buildings. He started his work as a government officer in Water Resource Department of the Public Work Ministry in Jakarta in 1995. He used to be a civil engineer in Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Board (BPLS-Badan Penanggulangan Lumpur Sidoarjo) from March 2006 to December 2008. Now he works for Malang City Environmental Board. He is focusing on preparing Malang City a part of ASEAN Low Carbon City and he is actively preparing the city to participate in Cities Clean Air Partnership (CCAP).
